Just renewed our insurance :- £147.20 premium for £30,500 cover including boat, trailer and equipment, £125 excess. Interesting bit was pinning down the wording for single handed sailing, including after sunset and before sunrise. Now got cover for any single handed passage not exceeding 24 hours (with suitable navigation equipment). No racing cover, so just as well Peter, Alan and I didn't actually have a starting gun, or any prizes, last time we got together !

Now that is interesting. I paid £225 with Bishop Skinner Marine. My inexperience will have counted against me. But it sounds as if I should look around a bit more when I renew. Who did you go to?

Nautical Insurance Services, Leigh-On-Sea, 01702 470811. The no claims discount amounted to £40 so they should still be competitive for you.

Update: NIS saved me £105 on my renewal quotation from Bishop Skinner. So well done Gordon.

That's good. If some more people join us here we could possibly arrange a general discount for members ?

I have just received a quote from the same company which is £234 and this is with a £60 no claims discount. My boat is in France but I would not have thought France a greater risk than UK East Coast
